SRINAGAR

Situated in the Kashmir Valley, Srinagar is the summer capital of the Indian State of Jammu and Kashmir. Known as the “Paradise on Earth”, Srinagar is famous for its gardens, lakes and houseboats. Srinagar has both medieval charm and a touch of modernity; surrounded by awesome mountains, river Jhelum meandering throughout the city.


Sightseeing includes historical or religious places, gardens or lakes, craft bazaar or stone carving units, tombs of poets or saints. The attractions out here are the Mughal Gardens created by Emperor Jahangir for his wife which houses the Shalimar Bagh & Nishat Bagh, lake side views, magnificent sunsets, floating markets, verdant greens, authentic Kashmiri cuisine & hospitable locals. Lakes around the city include Dal Lake famous for its houseboats and Nagin Lake.


At Dal Lake you can enjoy a relaxing Shikara ride, bow down at the Shankaracharya temple, indulge in shopping for the famous Pashmina shawls and Kashmiri handicrafts and enjoy some of the adventure activities like skiing, trekking, white water rafting, paragliding, camping and Kayaking.


You can also go to Gulmarg which is the “Meadow of Flowers”, a beautiful place throught the deodar forests above Tangmarg. Its a popular skiing destination easily accessible from Srinagar. The passionate summer and adventurous winter makes Gulmarg most favourite destination among tourists and locals.
