Sujan The Serai, Jaisalmer, Rajasthan
SUJÁN The Serai is a desert oasis, a place for relaxation and renewal that has been meticulously planned. It stands proudly on a linear grid rising up from the desert, with some walls cut in sandstone and tents made on a grand scale. Local artisans worked the stone, creating enormous plunge pools and a towering, inverted stepwell that houses the tranquil pool. The camp captures and enriches the essence of Jaisalmer, from the ‘great’ in scale to the tiniest priceless thing and artefact.
SUJÁN The Serai, an oasis of peace on a 100-acre private estate of indigenous desert scrub, is inspired by the patterns of Rajputana’s royal caravan camps. There is no better starting point from which to explore the mysterious surroundings of Jaisalmer and its famed yellow castle, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The 21 tents are a charming symphony of styles. Six deluxe tented suites feature their own private walled-in gardens and underground, heated plunge pools with Jacuzzi jets, and the resort includes fourteen tented suites. The royal tented suite features its own spa, outdoor pool, dining, and lounge tents, and is surrounded by a private enclosure.
