Panamik Village

The Panamik village is located at about 2Km from this place. This village lies at a height of 3183M above the sea level and is the northernmost part of Ladakh, where visitors are allowed. This village is filled with snow-capped sceneries, majestic mountains and offers picturesque views of the neighbouring valleys.

 

Yarab Tso, Sumur

The Yarab Lake lies at 20Km from the Nubra Valley and is often referred to as “the hidden lake”. This name is very apt because of the isolation of this holy lake, and one needs to hike uphill for a long time to reach this spot.

 

Maitreya Buddha

The Maitreya Buddha statue is a 32M tall awe-inspiring statue which was built at 27Km from the central part of Nubra. This statue is a recent construction made with 8 kg of gold that was received as a donation from the head of Gompa. It is a popular tourist attraction and lies close to the Diskit Monastery.

Camel Safari

The most marvellous thing to do in the valleys of Nubra is camel riding amidst the colossal dunes in cold climate. The Bactrian camel with double humps can only be found in this valley and is an endemic species in this region.

 

Dip in the hot springs

The Panamik village also holds the famous sulphur hot springs that are close to the Siachen Glacier. This place, located about 20 km north of Hunder, attracts tourists who take a dip in the warm waters of this hot springs.

 

Collect artefacts

What’s a trip without any shopping? The village of Panamik in the Nubra Valley is very popular for the Pashmina shawls and socks. Tourists and buyers from all over the globe are perpetually impressed by these local artefacts.
